Hey all i have a 98 limited w the 3.4v6 recently after the car got detailed they sprayed the engine bay and it misfires real bad and blows white smoke that smells just like gas with extra gas coming out the tailpipe. Spark plugs fixed the misfire however it still blows clouds of white gass smoke with gas dripping out the exhaust. Planned to start with 02 sensor and vaccum leaks. Also it does not throw a code and maf has been replaced

Welcome! Sounds like when they sprayed the engine down they musta knocked off a sensor wire or emissions hose. I'd take a look and see if you can find the culprit!

Keep your old MAF. Unless you used a TOYOTA or DENSO one, you are probably going to have issues with the new MAF. Same with the O2 sensors. Aftermarket sensors are no good.

Did you pull codes or just waiting for a CEL? You might have some pending codes that haven't triggered the CEL yet.

I've got to believe you still have a misfire. I don't know how gas will get into the exhaust without going through the injectors first.

I would go through the engine bay, disconnect all connections looking for water intrusion. Get a hair dryer. Check for vacuum leaks like you are thinking to do.

Any detailer that "sprays down" and engine should be shot. Engine detailing requires lots of rags/towels/sponges and NEVER a spray down. Demand your money back.

@negusm i agree i wasnt aware it was apart of it and now they wont take any accountability so its quite frustrating as it ran perfect before

I know this may be unpopular but there are tons of YouTube videos and professionals who use power washers on engines.

It's literally the dumbest laziest thing that you can do to an engine. Especially a 20 year old one.

Unless it’s 2005’ish or newer, less components are sealed and should be covered; otherwise, if you hose it down (not actively leaving it one spot) on a cool engine (again 2005+) you’re fine

    From Josh's "new" thread:

OK, if your oil now has gas in it, and your plugs are wet, you must be flooding the cylinders. (best guess?)

I'm thinking you have stuck open injectors. You need to pull all connectors to those injectors and dry it all out.

Furthering needing help on my 98 5vz i installed new pressure regulator. Oil smells gassy and still smokes gassy smoke. Doesn’t seem like leaky injector due to multiple spark plugs wet. Should I change the oil and give it a drive to clean it out?

If it's not stuck open injectors...then you don't have spark to those wet spark plugs. You need to verify you have spark there.
