    Hi guys,
I like to design/build Lego. I need your EXPERT and objective opinion on these ones. It is 6 studs wide, which is a very difficult scale. It is too small to add nice details, but enough to get some highly recognizable details. I need to choose one of these, 1,2 or 3? what would you choose? left, center, or right?

Remember one thing: Resembling an object with LEGO is like drawing a cartoon... you just need to add enough details to identify what it is and don´t care about what is missing. If you add too many details, you will lose focus, and if there are not enough details, you will not be able to find it attractive. Lego is a squared system where you try to build real-life curvy stuff.

I don't like the front end of #3. What is the differences between 1 and 2?

The filling between the plates. Number one has one empty space and the "light" in the lower stud. Number 2 has a "light" brick right under the headlights and in the lower stud there is just white filling.

    My opinion:

Go up in scale and add a few more details. None of them look like a 4runner to me.

All of them are akin to Mahindra Roxor’s version of a CJ Jeep. Close-ish in some aspects but not quite recognizable.

    cool project, tho!

You don't need to follow the word "these" with "ones".
    Same with the word "those".
    -English 101 :D

Oh opinion on the Lego... Too small to make it look like a 4runner.
Fender flares look more like wrangler/bronco due to size. Really good effort. I've been looking for a scale model of the 5th but no one makes one.

    You should add a poll.

    I’d say 3.

He doesn’t need to, but he can. Apparently, the British are more likely to use “ones”. He made it clear what he was talking about when he added pictures.

Usage of the word "ones" is used in America as well. I am strictly referring to using it after "these/those".
It is repetitive and unnecessary to use after "these" and "those" because "these/those" is already describing specific multiples.
"New ones" is different because it means multiple objects are new.

Cool Lego project. I like the middle choice. Can't bring myself to say #2 when there might be a TRD involved.

#3 due to the protruding grille which seems accurate.

1&2 with the flat grille looks like a LR Defender at first glance.

They all look great, but there's something about #3 that feels a little more accurate.

The real question is, will it rub if we add bigger tires and a lift? :p

Here is a thread I have been following since last year regarding a Lego 5th gen. Personally, I think there are 5th gen elements in both builds and I wish there was a way to combine them. I'd love to get a Lego 4Runner kit one day but I don't have the capacity to figure out Rebrickable.com at the moment.

3 resembles the 5 gen 4 Runner most accurately since the front does have that protruding front design. 1 & 2 has that angled peace above the head lights like the 4R has, so it depends on your focal point when looking at it.

Can you keep the #3 design the same in every way but curve the Lego peace just above the headlights? That or take 1 or 2 and have the front protrude more like #3?

    I would love a Lego 4 Runner.

On the other site some months ago someone was doing a similar Lego thing that looked better. I’m sure a search would pull it up

There is like a 3D Cad where you can design your builds with virtual LEgo pieces that actually exists. When you are done, render it and voilá (the software also renders, it is FREE)

Actually it would be very easy to tune it up. The way I am designing it is that it can be customized, it is what Lego is about, build it as you like it. You can check my FJ Cruiser build and all variations from the original https://rebrickable.com/users/marcoe14/mocs/

That model is really nice, it is way bigger than mine. The bigger, the easier... although a 4Runner is not easy.
The rebrickable thing... you need to create an account at bricklink.com and link them, so when you choose a model at rebrickable, it redirect you to bricklink.com to buy the pieces.
