Here’s the deal transfer case went out and I replaced it with another good used one. After replacement it’s like it wouldn’t shift into overdrive. Checked the trans fluid and was pretty burnt so I figured it took out the trans to, replaced with another good used transmission and same exact issue. It’s almost like it’s in 4 low but I verified it was 2wd. It will be shifted into 3rd by like 15 mph, is it even possible to have installed the transfer case shifter wrong were it would be in like a 2wd low? Other then that no codes or anything else! Any info or advise would be appreciated!

How did you verify it's in 2wd?

I know some folks will modify theirs to have the option of 2wd Lo, but I haven't heard of it happening accidentally.

What are your RPM's like when you're shifting into 3rd at 15 mph? Do they seem normal, or is it shifting at very low RPM's?

I probably can't be much help, but I'm just asking some questions that might help someone more knowledgeable.

    4WD low:yes
2WD:it will whine out the gears when cold just for a bit. Does this for oil pressure and warming up.

I spun the front drive shaft to make sure it wasn’t engaged.

not really shifting at low RPM, it’s shifting at 2500-3000rpm

but I am in 3rd gear 3500rpm at 25mph that can’t be right, right? I’m starting to get curious if it’s some how in 2wd low.
