    '95 3VZE here . 4.11 (?) rear end with aussie locker (++ great mod) ,
    near pristine interior, exterior not so much ... as of right now.

    Did a major rebuild many moons back and only put on a couple Kmiles since.
    Reground crank line bored, pistons 1st over size, balanced, decked, valve job. yada yadas.
    Much of the rest rebuilt / refreshed with what ever was to be had cheap per rockauto & ebay
    Located central Texas these days , let me know if yall :) local, maybe swap peace-time warstories. Not much off roading available here ...

    best comments for those doing same;

    I insulated the exhaust cross over pipe with fiberglass wrap, kept tidy with stainless tie wraps and the finest Harbor Freight stainless baling wire, trying to shield the head gasket.
    Interesting that Toyota shielded the driver footwell side , but not the head side.

    It was far far easier to wrap that pipe while the motor was hanging from a ceiling, but I suspect it would be a worthwhile mod even if you have to slip insulation (anything from a couple layers of beer can laminations on up) in there with motor installed
