    Hello!

Figured I would introduce myself with a nice long post so get settled in with a drink!

I am an avid Toyota fan and I had owned a Tacoma until it was recently totaled in an accident.

When people see the truck, they asked if I hit a tank and my response is “Yeah, it was another Tacoma”

The Tacoma was always my dream truck and as most people I loved it. With one Caveat – I am 6’2” and I felt a little small in it. I had a stop early or duck to see traffic lights. Additionally, I have a kid that is growing to one day be as tall as me and might need some more room for her.

That all being said…. I am thinking about diving into the 4Runner scene since I feel like it gives me a tiny bit more dead room and is more of a family-oriented vehicle with similar Off-Road Look and Prowess of the Tacoma (though I feel like it does not have the same squatty bulldog stance/look that the Tacoma has.

I plan to buy a new one as I am in the position now to do it and was originally looking at the 2021 4Runner TRD Pro -

I plan to give the 4Runner a Lift & New tires either way so after thinking about it I believe I will go with the 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. This way I can put the lift/suspension/tires I want on it & save on the extra $6000 from buying the TRD Pro. Thoughts?

I will be honest; I do not do a lot of Off Raiding. I go through national forest hunting a lot and the beach. I do want to get more into it though, I just need to find some nice trails near me.

I just really like the look of a nicely lift truck with proportionate tires. Not to mention it really brings the vehicle up to might height, so I do not look like a giant in a toy car.

One of the really numbing issues I am having as most others do is finding the right lift / tire combination.

I plan on getting a different bumper or having it modified so hopefully that reduces some possible clearance issues.

Bumper Look I will be going for.

I was thinking something like a 3 Inch Lift / Leveling Kit and was wondering if I would be able to fit 35’s or if I would need to settle for 33’s. I like an aggressive fire in case you can’t tell from the truck so I would like something similar. I like the looks of the DuraTecs.

Comfort while city driving & Looks are obviously the biggest selling points as this will be 90% of it's use, but I want it to still be reliable and perform average / above average off road. So, no body lifts for me. I would rather spend the $$ and get what I want. That and the nice lifts show off the nice suspension. Its aesthetically pleasing to me.

NOTE: I am looking at getting the KDSS Option.

I guess at this point I am just looking for opinions.

The kdss will limit height I have an 18 ORP and love it!!! I think for your driving habits 34 /35 might overkill
I run falken wildpeaks they fill out nicely also suspension choice for me was a set of BP51 absolutely awesome soft when I want hard when I need to go big and you don’t have to change out your uca it’s made to work with a stock setup look up Trail4r web page very through info on what you need

What lift is in that picture?

I like the tires, they look nice, I might prefer a little more room above the tires ascetically speaking.

Did I mention I live in southeast Texas and we seem to flood every year? :(

Does anyone have thoughts on the OffRoad vs TRD Pro? If I plan to lift/change tires anyway?

Save your money on a pro and add the difference to an ORP and make it unique to you

Akoz welcome to the 4amily. I do have a 2020 ORP and I can say if you have the money buy a Pro if you want the color and the street cred. However of you want the standard color then just get a ORP. I have a white orp and want that exact same look. I wouldve got the pro, but I didnt love the OD green color. I thought it was dope but i didnt love it. I love the calvary blue, cement grey, and the voodoo blue. However, being a new parent with 2 kids, the keyless entry was essential. I didnt want a used vehicle. Nothing wrong with a used vehicle, but I just wanted a fresh new car for my Family.

Im on the way to achieve the “look” as of many have already. 2.5 inch lift in the front 3” in the back. 305’s with -12mm offset.

This was my thought process and I hope this helps in your decision.

Welcome from Wisconsin! That majorly sucks about your Tacoma, we had one setup almost identically. We traded ours for a 4Runner and didn't look back. The Tacoma is a good vehicle, but, you'll like a 4Runner even better! Seating is more user friendly. We put 275-70-17 Coopers on ours with a 3"/2" lift and it seems to look ok as far as proportion, slight rake rear a bit higher, for pulling a trailer this should level out.
