A friend and his wife are interested in buying a 4 Runner. I took my 2024 SR5 Premium to his house yesterday for them to check out, and see if it would fit in their garage.
It is tight. The shark fin is the highest point, and it clears the bracket that attaches the overhead door to the opener bracket by an inch. They want white, and the local dealer is showing a Pro in Icecap in transit, I am wondering if any of you that has a Pro could tell me if the rack on a Pro is higher than that shark fin? Thanks.

The rack is roughly 5 inches higher than the top of the shark fin antenna. Just an eyeball as I'm parked in the garage and it's not easy getting a ruler up there right now. I have a normal sized garage door. What I did was adjust my garage door opener so the door retracts fully. That gave me the clearance to park in the garage with some room to spare. If you look at my icon/signature you'll see the Pro in the garage.

Thank very much. I guess I should have also asked if the rack is removable? I think The reality they are going to have to hunt for something other than a Pro. At this point I wonder how long the 2024's will be produced?

I know some folks have removed the rack and gone with a standard style roof rack versus pro style. I am not sure how involved it is though. Someone on another thread here removed everything on top and just went a smooth finish on top.

The other thing to watch is does the hatch bump bottom of door if you open it to unload groceries etc while parked. I have an ORP factory and it’s tight. Very tight. If the cement shifts in the winter it could be an issue for me. So for myself I have a hard rule the hatch does not get opened unless the vehicle is outside

If your rack clears by an inch, the Pro rack will not. If they decide to select another trim, they'd best get on it, as there most likely will be no more factory orders at this point in time. They'll need to find something currently on dealer's lots I would think.

Or, as stated above, the Pro rack can be removed.

    Hi OP

I just measured my PRO™ rack, and its a little over 78" from ground to a board laid across the rack
lowest point of my garage door is 82.5" inches and it clears mine

the rack is higher than the shark fin, but more than an inch...
if it will help you out, I can measure how much the rack extends above the shark fin

Thanks. The Pro is a no go for them.

Yup. That is what will probably happen. The Pro was local, and the desired color.

Too poor to buy anything now
They could also remove the Pro rack. Or replace it with one of the lower profile, popular after market racks.

Pro has the same style rack as my ‘14 FJ, and I think Toyota only installs them now so other drivers can identify that it’s not a OR.

Stock FJ is an inch taller than a 4R and occasionally I couldn’t clear a low parking garage. Just my opinion, but, not a fan esthetically or functionally. Lots of better choices.
