I removed the head liner and want to repair this and can't find much on these anywhere. The backing is shot at the drivers side. I want to use some fiberglass resin to stiffen this, you think that would work? If I build a form copied off of passengers side to hold this side in that same shape, and brush on several lite coats of resin, wouldn't that technically work? Then I could work on removing the existing liner and install new!

Get another one from a junkyard or someone parting a car. Otherwise, your plan sounds doable. There just will never be any reproductions for soft parts on these cars.

I would still use some fiberglass mesh with your resin though.

I called u pull it, it's 60 miles away and they said we have two 3rd gens in yard. They don't know if they're sunroof models and don't know condition and won't go inspect. I have to drive there just to look around! What do you my chances are?

The fiberglass has worked out and I did use the mesh. You can't remove the fiberglass it's adhered more than I thought. though I don't know if there's enough room for the liner to fit back in place?
