The black 87 I bought has some really sharp looking aftermarket wheels on it that I liked from the moment I saw it. But I've been fanatical about "period correct" and keeping everything factory so I purchased some factory allows I was going to clean up and put on her. Well, this evening I was in the garage and it hit me, these things are exactly the same as on Marty's SR5 from Back to the Future.

Going to ask PO if he remembers these wheels being on the truck when he was a kid because I think that definitely counts as period correct! The surface rust is pretty minor, figuring that will come off either with product or media blasting.

Sweet! My first thought was "those ARE period correct!"

I remember those from when I was a little kid in the 80s, a few companies made that style, but I believe the original was the American Racing Equipment "Nugget" wheel. They were available with gold, black, chrome, and even red and blue centers. A few manufacturers made them later, I remember seeing them in the Summit Racing catalog in the 90s.

@Trail Runnah YES!!! A quick Google search and that's them. Thanks for the info. Definitely leaning towards keeping these on the truck.

The closest tire you can get today is the Goodyear Wrangler Radial or ATS, unfortunately they offer them in very few sizes. It still uses the old Goodyear font which is just 10x better than the modern generic looking font, I wish they'd go back.
[IMG] [IMG] They've been out as long as they look. 15 inch tires are obsolete and many top tier brands don't offer much if anything for them

Metric 15" truck tire sizes are rare but 15" flotation sizes are still fairly plentiful, based on a quick look at Tire Rack.
