    I know this is weird…

but I got a tint ticket, I really don’t want to deal with taking off the tint and reinstalling it in a few months. So I’m wondering, is there a good soul out there that has the power to sign my fix it ticket lol

I know it’s weird but I figured I would try

Sorry about the ticket, but I honestly don’t know why there aren’t more citations for tint.

Dark front windows are dangerous for law enforcement, drivers and pedestrians. It’s much safer for everyone if we can see each other at intersections, cross walks, parking lots, etc.

Sorry it had to be you this time.

As you know, having illegal tint attracts the attention of law enforcement and will get you stopped. If that's what you want then keep the illegal tint and maybe disconnect a taillight while you're at it. You'll get lots of attention.

Well at least the criminals don't have to worry about illegal tint any longer, they can just commit their illicit activities in plain view during daylight hours now days.

The guy I drive truck for got pulled over for a D.O.T inspection, this was with his pickup pulling a trl. with a skid steer on it. The "man" asked him about his tint on the side windows. After the "man" told him it was too dark, he gave him the option.. pull it off right there or get a ticket. The boss said, "write the ticket." And the "man" started writing. $186.00 later he still has the tint.... on the side windows. The OP didn't say what window it was. As much as both of my bosses like tinted side windows, they both agree getting the windshield tinted isn't in their best interest, and probably not that smart.

I got stopped 3 times in college for window tint. Eventually I just pulled it off because it wasn't worth the hassle. In Michigan you can have it on the top 4" of the front windows unless you have a prescription. It's not a matter of if it is "too dark" or not.

    I feel for you!
Going through the hassle again to get illegal tints installed after you have to rip them off for being illegal.
What a waste of time and money.

We moved from TX to PA and my wife’s vehicle still has the tint that came with the vehicle when we bought it in Texas. I’m sure the front two windows are considered illegal in PA but it passed state inspection. In my opinion tint laws are dumb. In Texas it’s legal for law enforcement to have as dark of tint as they want but not for normal citizens. I hate the double standard.

Just don't pay the ticket and never go back to that state.

Tint laws have to be one of the dumbest things. But there are reasons for it. I got pulled over for a plate cover and the LEO was busting my balls about my tint as well and how its illegal in his state but its not in mine. He didn't give me a ticket for the tint, but i did for the plate cover.

It’s a stupid law. It’s my rig and tint doesn’t affect anyone but me when I drive. You don’t need eye contact to drive around others. If I wreck because of poor vision then that’s on me. It’s like saying you can’t wear dark sunglasses while driving.

Agreed, too many BS laws. We used to say the same thing about seatbelts, and that 100% is not going to cause an accident or impair driving like super dark tint can.

Okay. I have illegal tint too. I just got a speeding ticket. 1st since 2008. My fault & I was going downhill. Sorry Sergeant Warner!

I have two rules for my tint. Roll both windows down before they get to your car. Then bust out your USAA Insurance card. I give & show my insurance no matter if he asks or not. Sadly, not everyone has USAA.

Typically they cut you a break if you have anything USAA. I probably pay more but they just fixed $9k in hail damage perfectly & it makes the cops calmer

I’m getting tint done for my front two windows and the shop I’m using recommended 35%. PA legal is 70%. He said he has yet to have a customer bring their vehicle back for illegal tint and has a few law enforcement customers who have gone 35% or even 20% on their personal vehicles. I’m used to 20% as that’s legal in Texas and is what my wife’s SUV came with from the dealer.

That is absurd. You do not operate in a vaccume on a public road. If you wreck your car in your driveway because you are blinded by your own tints, I am not bothered. But if you wreck me because you were blinded while taking that right turn, now that concerns me.
Not all laws make sense, but having dark tints beyond a certain limit hampers visibility, and visibility is one thing you need when you out driving.

Or a bunch of other laws. As John Wayne famously pointed out, “Life is hard. It’s harder when you’re stupid”.

I am covered by USAA as well. I think their rates are reasonable. I have had a few different insurance companies previously, and got sick of paying for celebrity endorsements. I would suffer through huge rate increases every year while having no points on my license. Enough of that.

@kolter45 I have only been stopped by LE once while having USAA, and I definitely deserved it. I was cruising at least 75 in a 55 two lane road. The officer was going the other way and I saw him and decelerated, but he had me by then. He lit me up and I pulled over and stopped and shut the car off with the windows down before he turned around and pulled up behind me. I sat with my hands on the wheel not moving. He walked up, he was cordial, so was I. I apologized, said I was just cruising. He said, nice car (Infiniti G-35-6MT coupe). I gave him my documents. He went back and ran everything, came back and gave me a warning. I thanked him profusely and we each went our way.

It could have been because of USAA. I never thought about it until reading your post.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I have had illegal tint on the last 5 or 6 vehicles that I've owned. I have never gotten a ticket because of it. Now, I don't go around speeding or breaking traffic laws, so unless the cop was having a really bad day (or just out to get me), he would let me slide on having tint.

The last time I did get pulled over, which was...6yrs ago?....I IMMEDIATELY rolled down ALL my windows. Wanna know what the cop said to me? "Thanks for doing that, your tint is really dark, and it bothers us if we can't see in. It's a safety thing. Thanks for doing that." Then he let me go with a warning. What a cool cop.

The bottom line: If you're going to have illegal tint, don't break traffic laws. But if you do, roll your fucking windows down all the way before the cop walks up to your vehicle.

First ticket I’ve gotten for “illegal tint” in over 22 years of having vehicles with tint. All my cars have tint and I have never had an issue cops in my town
