Been thinking it over. Studying for my ham right now and have been looking into gmrs for off-roading. My walk-in talkie does frs. Nothing compared to the power of a gmrs or ham but works for our purposes (usually just my wife and I and we use it so she can spot me).

I have a 275 is well. I just have the whole thing stuffed in my center console right now, I've only used it once and just set it up real quick temporarily.

That would a better setup. I'm little worried that someone would break the glass at a public parking lot to snatch the radio, tablet, etc..

I think one member had a really clean install inside the center console and I think he had a RJ45 jack so you easily can plug in the hand set. Too bad I forgot the name. His whole setup was insanely clean.

My install was more laziness than anything else, LOL. I was going to an event that required having a radio, but I didn't want to hard mount anything.

Wanderlost Overland did a really clean install, they tucked theirs away under the center console with a jack to plug the mic into. I believe they also added a extra USB port as well. If you're not familiar with them, they have a YouTube channel and they did an install video on this.
