"gas generator" over C pillar?....a 'what is this' post

    My read on the diagram is that they’re attached to airbags, according to the light blue blobs in the legend (blue blob is oblong along the roof line in the diagram). Looks like the side curtain airbags.

    That makes sense.

    Similar to the cartridges in the overhead of the airliners where the passenger oxygen mask is stowed. The gas generator pictured in the link is much bigger due to the size of the airbag.

    The document title is “Emergency Response Quick Reference”. Probably to comply with some requirement to identify the dangerous or explosive parts of the vehicle, for first responders or auto dismantlers.
