Has anyone had any success in keeping these gaps tighter? The one on the corner seems to not stay clipped in and the other one is a larger gap than the opposite side. I'm taking my bumper off this weekend to install some headlamps and figured I'd check if anyone has a fix for this.

    Thanks

There have been several threads about this same issue. Sorry to say, no one has come up with a definitive fix. If the photos you posted look off to you, I've seen worse, I guarantee you. My passenger side beneath the headlight will also not stay up tight. I have been searching for a fix for a couple years.

Would you do me a favor - when you have the bumper cover off, could you snap some photos of the back side of the bumper cover, right where that corner is below the headlight, and also some pictures of the clips on the body under the headlight where the bumper cover snaps into? I would appreciate it, thanks.

I wish I had better information for you. You'll see my username in the above threads looking for a solution, just like you are now...

The bumper clips into a black plastic piece on both sides. These are fastened to the body using a bolt in a slightly oversized hole. That oversized hole allows for some adjustment.

If you can't get it high enough, oversize the hole more and use a washer to keep it secure. Should be able to tighten that up quite a bit.

Yes you can make some play in those retainers. I think there are two clips and one hole. Although I cant remember if the hole that you can oversize is under the headlight or next to the fender. I want to say its on the fender side, but it's been about a year since I fiddled with this.

Thank you. It will clarify, perhaps, what @1SilverRunner is referring to - the bumper cover attachment clips mounted on the body, and which is the one that can be adjusted to help tighten up that part of the cover to (hopefully) keep it in place.

I had some minor collision repair done to the driver side headlight area and afterward that plastic bumper cover kept popping out every day or so. The clipping system just would not stay engaged. So I pulled back the cover a little and squirted some clear E6000 hobby glue (with a pointed nozzle) into that clip area. Then pushed it into place and taped it over with a strong duct tape. After a couple of days to cure I carefully removed the tape so as not to tug on the joint. It’s been over 4 months and all is well.
If I ever need to remove the head light I’ll just have to take more care to break or cut out that glue blob.

That is one solution. I may end up there some day.
