Flashing 4wd Rear diff locked

    2001 4runner SR5 w/Locker
    Hello everyone! I'm looking for some advice on an issue i'm having with my 2001 4runner SR5.

    I was doing my monthly cycle on my 4wd system to keep it operational. It's worked flawlessly so far. This time i think something went wrong. Here's what i did.
    - Shifted transmission to Neutral
    - Pressed 4wd button on the knob
    - Shifted locker knob to 4L
    - Pressed the center lock button next to the lights dimmer knob
    - Shifted to D, rolled forward, then to R and rolled backward (i did this at least 10 times increasing the distance forward and back each time)

    Now the 4wd indicator in the center of the speedometer just keeps flashing.

    So i reversed the whole process back to normal but now my back
    tires struggle and slip when i have to do sharp turns and the 4wd indicator is still flashing.
    I tried unhooking the battery to reset the CPU.

    Anyone have any advice on how to fix this pleaseeee!

    Were you on pavement when you used the locker? I was always told to only ever use 4H. Unless you are on dirt/grass...4L is a recipe for disaster.

    Sounds like your rear is still in 4L? and the rear differential is not working. If it were me, I'd have it towed to a shop to diagnose. Running on pavement with a non-working differential is just going to chew up everything.

    Hope I'm wrong.

    Sometimes you have to have slight wheel slip for the locking collar to line up.

    Ya just go back-and-forward a bunch. Then do the process again. And it will get easier...

    RSG sliders, Yakima offgrid basket, Pro-Comp wheels, SOS Streamline bumper and skids, Warn VR EVO10S winch + Ultimate Sidewinder, Bilstein 6112 + 5100 + rear lift coils, Rigid Dually SS ditch lights w/Caliraised brackets and OEM style dash switch
    I would put the switches back to the 4wd setting, move a short distance while turning slightly (not sharp) and see if it stops flashing. Then, attempt to disengage again. Sometimes you need to turn the wheels slightly to get it to engage/disengage.

    Let us know if you get it.

    Hello all thank you for all the replies!

    I still haven't been able to disengage the rear locker, im tackling it today.
    However before i get chewed up for using 4L on pavement. It was engaged on gravel and grass but i had to return home after hours of trial and error so then i had no choice but to drive it on pavement. I know this is quite risky but i tried to keep my turns as wide as possible.
    I found this video of a 2003 Tacoma. I haven't found any other videos tackling this issue other than 4runner elocker swaps.

    @3:10 after unbolting the rear elocker this guy engages and disengaged the locker manually. This is something i'm comfortable with trying if i can get my hands on a service manual diagram for my 3rd gen.

    If anyone has a link to service mamual that would help a great deal towards this and any other issues in the future!
