First time 4Runner Owner but long time Toyota Fan

Hi All,
Just purchased a 2003 V8 4runner with 159K and very clean interior. Vehicle was put on its side at a very slow speed. I have body damage to drivers side but all door open and no glass broken except for rear quarter panel area.
Vehicle was purchased by a friend to get the t-case as his 4runner needed this part. I purchased it from him as he would just leave in his back yard and never get to it. I needed another project and don't like to see good items parted out when it really just has a few bumps and scrapes.
I always try and keep my projects within a reasonable dollar amount.
This transfer case search has just started so I am trying to layout all of my options and come to the best possible outcome.
I will search the forum for more info and maybe with the help of all you can make my 4Runner ownership a long one.

PS: Has anyone swapped out a FJ Crusier Manual T Case into the V8 4Runner?
