2018 4runner sr5 premium with 39k miles, hopeful someone can point me to some good reading on maintanance tips and tricks to make it last? And also potential weak area's to watch for? I will be using this 4runner in fairly harsh road conditions, mud, deep snow and poor trails, Michigan road salt, and gravel roads with numerous large potholes and larger than average chatter bumps all while under a time crunch as a usps package delivery driver....hopeful for some good tips to keep the 4runner alive and Very well maintained.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

    Here's a maintenance schedule:

    0-100K+Maintenance+Map+-+4Runner.png

If you live in an area that salts the roads every year, treat your frame. A lot of owners user wool-wax or cosmoline. Set up a regular schedule to power wash the under carriage during the winter months.

    salt on the roads?

#1 pro-tip: rinse the undercarriage frequently, keep it as clean as possible. consider fluid film or woolwax or similar underbody treatment

Rust is your 4R's worst enemy

Wow! 2018 with only 39k miles! Nice find! Take a look at Borracho Loco’s maintenance map and watch the posts here on 4Runners.

100% ditto the notes on rust.

    Welcome aboard and congrats!

Congratulations on scoring a nice ride but, I think it's way too nice for the job at hand.
That kind of delivery route deserves a beater vehicle.
Maybe an ex-USPS Jeep or cargo van.

I disagree, with the right maintenance. It's the perfect vehicle. A beater will cause way more of a headache down the road.

I agree that my my 4runner may be to nice for my job, however, i work 6 days a week, so there is little time to repair a beater. Also, though it is Very low milage for a 2018, it has been in 2 minor accidents so i purchased at a discounted price. I do not normally purchase damaged trucks but no airbags where deployed, so i am hopeful i will get lots of life yet out of my 4runner...it is also well suited for my bird hunting sport activity, so it is my dayly driver as well.

Get some new sneakers for that nice new ride, it will make a world of difference in winter weather conditions.

As others have said, I would definitely put frame treatment at the top of my list. And given your use case, once that treatment is done I would be installing skid plates (engine, transmission, transfer case). Protect the underside from obstacles.

I was convinced to put a lift on first, as it gave me more clearance and less likely hitting said objects that skids would protect me from.

I've lifted my truck, 2.7" in the front with 1.5" in the rear (extra weight coils up front for my bumper). That said, I still put skids on as its cheap insurance as there's all kinds of crap that can come up under you truck and hit it both on road as well as off.

I’m not saying t9 note put skids on, in fact I planned to do skids first, but got convinced otherwise. Usage also determines needs.

One of the first things I did...replaced the low hanging predator steps:

    With 0° sliders:

Was able to recoup some of the slider cost by selling the predator steps.

Rust is the #1 concern, make sure to under coat with woolwax/fluid film.
