Fender liner mod 2020

    I’m the proud new owner of a 2020 TRD off road 4 runner. I’m hoping this helps someone before they get too far along. I have a 2 inch lift kit, wanted a little bit bigger tire without having to do any cutting or mods, after searching multiple post, I was pretty confident I could go with 275/70 without any problem (Wrong). I have factory trd off road wheels. Also the tires are falken wildpeak 3w. Let’s get to it, first when we pulled it out of the garage it caught the bottom edge of the fender, so we trimmed that (not a lot) then we noticed the fender liner was pretty close, but I thought it might be ok (wrong) after driving it a short time, I backed out of a parking space at full lock, and yes it rubbed. So here is where I can hopefully help someone, looked at all the videos about how easy it is to move the fender liners, pretty much correct, the drivers side went without a problem, after, had plenty of clearance, passenger side not so much. They have put a reservoir right behind the liner, also the bracket by the screw has a raised lip, so you can only move it so much. I was a able to move it about 1/2 an inch, which ended up giving me about a fingers worth of clearance, hoping that’s enough. So to sum up, if you get 275’s you can make it work, in my case had to do a little trimming and the fender mod ( hopefully passenger side will be fine). If your going with 285’s I don’t see how you could move the liner on th3 passenger side far enough forward to make it work. Hope this helps someone.

    RevTek 3" front- 2" rear leveling, JBA uca's, LED interior lights, Cooper 275-70-17 AT3 LT
    I have a RevTek 3" front/ 2" back spacer lift, I also run 275-70's and have about 1 inch of clearance. I also can see how the lip on the fender would rub. The only thing different on mine is KMC/XD wheels, 0 offset, 8 in. width, 4.5" backspace.

    It seems that wheel offset (and to an extent alignment) make the real difference here. I also have a 2020 TRDOP and with iron man lift kit, stock TRDOP wheels I’ve installed BFG KO2 in 285 size with absolutely zero rubbing issues.

    For whatever reason, every truck seems to be a little different when it comes to this issue. Some have zero rub, some require fender liner mod, some require mudguard mod, or even body mount chop.

    I will find out for myself as soon as Bilstein front shocks come off of back order. I already have a set of TRD Pro wheels, springs, SPC UCAs, and rear shocks. Just got the springs back from being powder coated in TRD red.

    It's because there are a lot of variables involved.

    Wheel offset
    Wheel backspacing
    Wheel width
    Tire size
    Alignment
    Lift height

    You mess with one of these variables, and you have to you have to start making changes to others.
