Fair well

I sold my 2020 TRD OR with 23,500 miles this morning to Carmax. I couldn't pass up the opportunity at this time in my life. Original MSRP was $42K, I bought it for $38K, sold it for $44K.

Additional reasons to sell include:
1 - When I bought it, I really wanted a 1st gen Sequoia
2 - I've always wanted a little more room in my vehicle
3 - I've always wanted to be able to tow more
4 - I've always wanted something with a little more power to it
5 - 1st gen Sequoias remind me of a bigger 3rd gen 4Runner
6 - The 4.7L is awesome
6 - I had $17K in positive equity at the end of the deal
7 - Decent 1st gen sequoias can be had for about $5-6K in my area
8 - A ton of budget left to perform delayed maintenance/repairs on a 1st gen Sequoia
9 - Remaining cash will be used to take my youngest to Disney in the spring, putting a fence in at the new house, taking care of some straggling debts
10 - NO MORE CAR PAYMENT!!! (At least until my wife wants a new car...)

This forum has been wonderful to me and I have learned A LOT about 4Runners. Thank you all.

Now I need to find my Sequoia. I've got time to find the right one and am not in a hurry. Patience is on my side. I can drive my middle child's 2005 CR-V or my wife's car for now.

I’ve got a 2012 Sequoia 5.7L and they definitely have more room and power. But that’s the only two pluses IMHO.

 

Congrats on new ride. Keep an eye on timing belt since those 4.7 engines use them and recommended to replace preventatively. You are still in the family and welcome here any time.

 

You were just afraid if you kept it to long, you wouldn’t be the fing new guy around here any more.

 

1st Gen Sequoia can last if following routine maintenance. My father in law has an '03 with 600K miles on it and no major repairs.

 

Not sure about the 4.6 but one thing you want to watch for on the 5.7 is cam tower oil leaks.

Fortunately I caught it while we still had the powertrain warranty.
Took the dealership about a week. They have to tear down the top of the engine. Big expensive repair.

They did a good job, no leaks ever since.

 

Specifically looking at the 4.7L not the 5.7L.

Well, it happened. I came across a sound 2005 Tree. Dude was a home mechanic and had the timing belt done 38K ago. I feel like I got it for a reasonable price.

I need to replace the lock actuator in front passenger door and the lift gate latch assembly (standard Sequoia issues). I also need to repair the JBL speaker surrounds and replace the headunit for something with CarPlay and give the front a little lift. It's got recently replaced airbags for the AHC system, so no reason to remove/replace those yet (unless I get an amazing deal on a full lift and airbag delete). To to reach out to CrikeyMike.

Looks sweet! My neighbors buddy drives a solid axle one that is pretty sweet. I think they look mean lifted.
