Took my 93 4Runner in today for smog and it failed once again only on the hydrocarbons, with hydrocarbons being through the roof on idling (1,291)and very high at 2500rpms (329). I have a bad feeling it could be the catalytic converter that’s causing this. Would definitely appreciate some insight on this so I can get it fixed so I can smog it and sell it.

I picked up one of those infrared thermometers and did exactly that. The front was hotter than in the rear so looks like it’s time to replace the cat. I appreciate the recommendation
