Factory Service/Repair Manual

Where can we purchase the factory service/repair manual?

 

These types of manuals have been replaced with online subscriptions. It used to be TIS for Toyota but they use something else now.

 

I wonder if the market for paper/bound service manuals disappeared, or if things got too complex?

Paper service manuals are so much more useable. You would think the 5th gen 4runner would have a market given how long they were around without big changes. Even a manual that doesn’t cover the electrical changes over the years would be good.

 

It's really convenient when you're laying under a rig. To have the manual right there easier than phon

 

They make more money requiring a subscription and the people that use them probably don’t want to keep book around anyway.

I've used both Chilton and Haynes manuals, and I personally prefer Chilton for its detailed explanations and clear diagrams. It seems to go more in-depth, which I find helpful. As for an original workshop manuals, try a site like workshopmanuals.org. They often have original or reprinted versions available for purchase.
