Factory radio xm radio built in issues

2012 4runner trail factory radio that has xm radio in it,radio works fine my issue is with the xm part checked all connections all good,pulled radio has a Harman automotive extension box underneath radio with xm sat antenna wire going into it,called xm techs they say extension unit may have failed i subscribed to xm they sent a refresh signal to it not good,only get channel 000 and 001 which is sample channel comes in and out cant get any other channels was hoping someone else here had an answer to this issue?any help is appreciated

 

Welcome. Those channels are the preview channel and info channel. Sounds like it's toast. Your description sounds like your antenna is still working and no worrying issues, cuz you wouldn't even get those, even the preview channel is a broadcasted channel. Doesn't sound like what you want to hear.

Personally, Rather than replacing that board, i would look for a replacement radio on marketplace or go aftermarket.

 

so i dug deeper took radio out there is a small unit underneath radio called extension box its is also the sat radio receiver has antenna for sat radio plug into it and other wire from radio to it,this is a common failure causes xm radio to be lost and also found a hidden menu in radio with code B158A extension box failure so i ordered box on ebay will see what happens thanks for the info

So the mystery deepens I now am able to get channels in xm above 1 so I can get from 1-252 and only receive sat radio if I drive 5 min to next town than I loose it?my wife gets xm just fine at our home ,I’m thinking this is an antenna issue the 4 runner has shark fin antenna I took it off connector good nothing looks broken,I really don’t know I even opened it up I’m thinking could be just bad antenna something internal?

 

The radio works fine am/fm Bluetooth and the xm did in other town wondering if the chip inside shark fin in photo is faulty doesn’t explain why I would just get signal in that town prior to this I wasn’t able to get past preview channel now I get all
