    What year?

    What codes?

Did you check for pending codes before you bought it? Did you check that the ECU was ready for emissions testing?

I would put money that this seller cleared the codes and made a quick sale hoping it was now your problem. Take it back. If they say they will fix it for you, allow them, but bring your code reader (buy one! they are cheap) to verify the engine is ready for emissions testing. This means that they would need to drive it for 25-50 miles after they fixed it. If the engine says A-OK...then you should be set for a while.

On the 2001-2002 at least (maybe the earlier ones), when a code trips, MANY times, the computer associates that with the possibility that it will affect VSC/TRAC so it shows those lights. So all three lights show up for almost any problem. You need a code reader to get to the bottom of it.

Should have had a code tester with me to double check . However my son was taking the lead on it and i just came up with half the cash. Thanks so much really for quick response. I will post codes later. Called seller gave the the gas cap disconnet battery routine. But i think your right cleared codes and sold we will see

Right now, I get those 3 lights on my 2002 for an EVAP code. I also get it for an A/F sensor behind the cat. I clear it and it disappears for MONTHS. But since I know these code are not critical, I'll wait until it gets worse as there could be a dozen parts that cause them.

If it was a misfire or something serious like that, I would definitely take it back. He KNEW it had an issue and a misfire could be as simple as plugs or a coil pack or as bad as an ECU or bad compression.

If it makes you feel any better, VSC and Trac illuminated with Engine MIL for a catalyst under efficiency DTC in my mother-in-law’s Highlander.

    Hello so code is PO770
The smog dude put his code machine on it. Then looked at Transmission fluid way over filled. The dude we brought from seems to know codes asked for codes. Is there so BS trick to overfill a tranny when about to.go out.
Because this sale is less then 24 hours old.

What is the condition of the fluid? Positive you checked using correct procedure?

if it were me, I’d change the fluid if dirty, or adjust the fluid to the proper level if good. Clear code, test drive.

There are two spots on the dipstick for the tranny. Hot and cold. If it is way over the hot, then the guy put too much in. Maybe in hopes of smoothing out the transmission.

Not sure how bad a servo code is...but sounds like you have transmission issues. *I* wouldn't be happy abut it. *I* would go back and demand that they take the car back because they didn't disclose all known issues about the car and that is illegal in all states that I know of.

Wow this site is great. So i hammered away and got my money back. So one Friend 4 Runner whisperer knew the scam right away. The guy put in a additive in the transmission so it would not slip. But by putting in so much additive it set the codes off. When he showed me the color under bright light flash light not in the daylight/sunlight you could see the color of additive and texture. He said big scam on 4 runners 4×4. Bay Area Ca lesson learned

Glad you got it resolved. These cars are becoming more and more popular and the scammers are going to take advantage.

Please get yourself a code reader. They will save your ass.
