Xposted on TW but hoping someone here has tried them
Looking for non-factory crossbars to use with existing rails on my 4R. Yakimas and Thules are several hundred bucks, LFDs look stout but I'm not going full or 3/4 rack again nor do I want fulltime noise. Found this Elevate Outdoor brand and price is right...unless they're going to sail off while still attached to my kayaks. Anybody tried them?

Welp, these bars arrived Saturday and they are definitely priced right. Very simple, cheap feeling construction. Hard to get tight enough to not move with a tug, and even as tight as I can get them, I can still get a little lateral movement in the crossbar itself. Maybe they'd work locally for hardware store runs, or shuttling a kayak to the neighborhood lake, but I dont trust them on an interstate. Back to craigslist for a known brand I guess

I got the LFD crossbars and they seem solid.

@sympley76 How many did you get? And I assume the one w the wind fairing? How's the noise? I had a prinsu on my tacoma and on the interstate it was like being in an airplane.

I got 2 pieces. 1 regular in teh stainless steel, and 1 with the wind fairing also in stainless steel. Our 4 Runners are not the most quiet vehicles and so far I have not noticed any extra noise.
