Anyone have experience with the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller? It is spoke highly of by a reputable towing mechanic in my town. It is a plug-in brake controller into the 7-pin then adjusted via Bluetooth via the app that can be transferred to another vehicle with a 7-pin. It makes sense that with better and newer technology a company would have this, but with any new product……

This is the first I have heard of this type,it looks very interesting and I now need to research.

Have a Tekonsha prodigy with zero issues, but this may be an upgrade.

I’m old fashioned. I looked into it after your post and while it looks cool I don’t trust Bluetooth connections and phone apps for braking applications but it is you that will ultimately make the decision for what is best for you.

I may be a “Guinea Pig” with this controller so I’ll report back on how it works. What I found on Google Reviews is 50/50 good and poor. But, maybe the tech setup wasn’t done correctly? I don’t know, but I’ll give it a try!

I used one for about a year and ended up selling it and getting a RedArc.

The primary reason was that I did not like the braking curve and felt that it was always braking too hard or not hard enough. Yes, there are settings for levels but I found them to be inadequate.

The other reasons were annoyance items like having to run an app and keep it on display to make changes as needed to settings and to check on status. Connectivity was decent for a Bluetooth device but there are some oddities around the sequence it likes to be connected and powered up that can cause delays when settting out and at gas stops.

My impression is that they've captured the market of folks who are hesitant (for whatever reason) to install a hard wired and mounted device in their car while offering a mediocre product.

Agree with THIS. I didn't have CURT but i was camping and saw another 4runner with the same camper so i asked what they used. They seemed to like it for what it was worth. But I have the REDARC and like the better adaptive feeling and i don't need my phone to control it. REDARC isn't that hard to install either. IMO

    REDARC > Bluetooth
