Ok guys don't kill me to much lol like iv posted before I have a 06 SR5 and in the long run I'm looking to do a long travel baja suspension... (probably in the spring.) Butttt iv always wanted to know how these 4th gens look just a little lower maybe about an inch or two. I don't think anyone makes a kit for the 4th gen, but I was wondering if the Tacoma's coilover kits would work... unless maybe I get crazy and cut the stock springs... or maybe the TRD lowering springs would work... thanks all.

The front is already low enough. If you want to see it lowered just fuel it up, throw a couple of cases of water in the rear and it will sag.

Don’t cut springs. That makes for a garbage ride and it’s tacky. Personally I would just leave it if that isn’t the end goal.

Well no idea but just saying. The Tacoma has leafs in the rear and the 4R doesn't.

Tacoma shocks are longer than the 4R
If you swap anything from the Tacoma you will lift the front end.

No idea but you still gotta deal with lowering the rear.

The suspension geometry of the tacoma, places the lower shock mount further outboard on the lower A-arm
This means the tacoma shock is physically longer than the 4R
This also means the tacoma springs are typically longer than the 4R
If you take a tacoma shock and put it on a 4th gen 4R you get about 2" of lift

If you want to buy an aftermarket threaded body shock for a tacoma and put it on the 4R go ahead and try it but i'm just giving you info to work with, what you do with it is all up to you.

in the 1st post they talked about getting the moog springs cause they got an extra coil but no diff in ride height stock v stock they are cheap enough that i cut em and not feel bad if it doesn't work and just go back to stock lol

Sos performance makes lowering collars to work with stock tacoma front shocks and springs. Call Tom over there he has been very helpful in the past for me. I ran their 2” front drop and 3.5” rear drop on my 13 tacoma. Youll need to figure out a spring solution for the rear, but i think this would net you a 1” drop up front.

    You know....
I was just thinking about it and had a brain storm.
You could buy the Eibach or Bilstein adjustable shocks and take them to a machine shop and have them use a grooving tool to cut a new groove lower on the shock body.....................
The Eibach being a big aluminum shock tube would be my pick, the different grooves for the snap ring are spaced apart and give almost exactly 3/4" lift for each ring. The bottom groove representing stock height and the other representing more lift.
You could measure below the bottom ring and cut another groove which will lower the shock collar and subsequently lower the ride height of the vehicle. I would do some measuring with the shock shaft at ride height and make sure you aren't stuffing the shock at full compression. This seems like the easiest way to lower the front. For the rear I would bet if you get up with Eibach you can likely find some springs that are shorter, even if they are for a different machine. Talk to them and figure out the length, and diameter of the eibach springs for the 4R and ask if there is anything in their inventory that is the same diameter, but shorter.
    Good luck.
