I really want a dual swing-out rear bumper, but I'm having a hard time deciding on who to order from. Was hoping for some feedback from those that have one already (good or bad) as far as the seller, lead-time, quality of product, etc.

I'd love to hear about other brands - I figure I haven't found them all. I would just really like to stick to dual swing out if possible - and not everyone offers one.

Give CBI Offroad a look. We have a dual swing out coming from them, should take between six and eight weeks to get to us. They have a variety of optional mounts for HiLift, Jerry cans, propane tank, etc. What sold me on them was there latch mechanism. Saw it originally on one of Expedition Overland's rigs and decided it was what we need/want.

Do you currently have one or have you ordered from any of these manufacturers?

I installed an Expedition One rear bumper, dual swing gate w/tire carrier and it's fantastic! The levers are easy to open and close the gates, no pulling pins. It's totally secure, no movement while closed and solid when open. They told me 6-8 weeks to fab and powder coat it. I placed the order in November and got the shipping notification 6 weeks later!

I *really* like that one - but the price scared me off a little. I need to just get over it!

It's not cheap, but no rear bumper w/tire carrier is going to be low cost AND functional. I lucked out and got a holiday discount on my order and free shipping. Saved quite a bit off the total price!
    Good luck in your search!

The one from Pro-line seems the most affordable (from what I've seen) but I'm nervous to go with someone without name recognition...it's an awfully big purchase.

    Totally agree!
It's tough and I had nothing to see or compare in real-life... only online pics and reviews and some vids...

I have a Aluminum Hefty Fab Works Single Swing Arm Rear Bumper, for me weight was a huge consideration and at 78lbs its more than half the weight of steel. They build them so no strength is lost with the aluminum and reinforce with Steel when needed. Chris Hefty spent a lot of time in the design process of their aluminum front and rear bumpers. I don't do much offroading, mostly to trails for hiking and to the snow so aluminum worked best for me. Also where I live it rains constantly so rust was another factor for me with steel, I have large dogs that jump in and out fo my 4runner daily with their nails and wanted it to be as resistant to rust as possible. I don't post as much on this forum as the 4runner forum, but there is a lot of good info and reviews on several rear bumpers you are looking at above. My screen name on there is Soccer13 if you want to see pics.

I don't see a dual swing out option from CBI. Am I missing it somehow?

So strange! Maybe I should call them and see if it's an option...I like CBI but I'm pretty set on dual swing out.

Called CBI today - they confirmed that it is an option- they just need to update their website. I'm hoping to place an order this weekend!! :yay:

    Awesome!
They have about an eight week lead time. We should be getting ours in about a month, super excited. We'll be producing a complete install video is you're interested.

A year later and we finally received the dual swing out and watched your video before installing - very helpful! Also - we went w/a similar set-up for the OBA after watching your video about that! I delayed ordering the bumper for a while - finally pulled the trigger in September and got it towards the end of January. It looks GREAT! I just noticed how outdated my profile picture is. Doesn't even look like the same 4Runner! I don't post on here often, my husband has a taco and has our joint build thread on TW. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/trekkers-taco-and-mellys-4r.491452/

I just installed my Expedition One single swing out and love it looks so clean. It adds lots clearance. They are having sale everything is 15% off.

I don't have any experience with C4, but I'm glad I got the dual swing out. It's so much easier to handle. My husband has a single swing out on his Taco and it's a lot more bulky/cumbersome to open IMO.

Cool thread, I'm looking for a swing out tire carrier ,class 2 hitch hi lift jack holder with a license plate holder for a 1995 4Runner..... In the future when I get the lady a newer 4Runner, I'll also be looking for the same for a 2003 4Runner.

I daily drive my 4runner. What is easier for getting the groceries in the back? One swing out or two? I feel like one is less steps.

That was one of our concerns too. We decided on duals so we would have room to open it all the way in the garage.
