Since there does not seem to be a company that makes a bolt on dual exhaust kit for the 5th gen, I thought about having an exhaust do the job. I bought an all stainless steel, all bolt-on dual exhaust kit for my 2010 Tacoma from Flowmaster and it has been great. I transferred it to my 2012 Tacoma where it is now. I am one of those OCD people that thinks if there is a pipe coming out of one side, there should be one on the other side. Borla used to make a kit for the 4th gen that sounded great.

Has anyone on here had this done and if so, how did it come out?

What do you think duals will do for you? Or is this for the sound?

I have no doubt that it will do absolutely nothing performance wise. I mainly like the appearance of dual exhaust vs. single. I know that there are a lot of options that would give me a different sound (Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, etc.) and I would not mind that either. I like the sound on my Tacoma with the Flowmaster kit.

The kit on my Tacoma is a single in dual out so the pipe for the left side is routed around the back of and not close to the fuel tank. I will have to crawl under and look to see how it could be done on the 4Runner.

Post up pics if you get it done. A dual setup under the rear bumper would look great.

even for looks, no (to answer your question)
everybody knows what this car is and it aint a race demon
i personally think that is a ricer thing to do to it
not to mention it takes a bit away from the departure angle, if you use this vehicle for what it can do, that's a downside.
