"Downloading...please wait" situation

2014 Grey 4Runner Premium

Hello, all. I have a 2014 4Runner, and for over 3 hrs now the ECU is reading "Downloading...please wait". Of course, it started while I was driving, so I didn't think I should shut it off. The familiar "rotating time icon" is present and spinning. Right next to that is the blue "Weather Channel" icon.
Any suggestions? Many thanks.
