Anyone know of a door sill protector for this area or would ppf be the best option?

PPF is going to be your best bet. Unless you're just looking for protection against the elements, then I might just put a coating on it.

i have a black 4runner.. and i have so many marks/scuffs in that area for the kids taking out their backpack, sports bag etc.. i was thinking about applying a piece of grip tape there.. no longer will see those marks.. any other suggestions are welcomed.. thanks.. PPF will be clear so I don't want that..

XPEL has a door sill tape in black. It's water proof and has very good adhesion. Put it there and it should solve your purpose.
I have it on my roof rails and exposure to elements or car washing has no effect on it.
