I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but I can't find my answer here or on google.

Im wanting to mount ditch lights using Cali raised mounts, diode dynamics (no backlight) ss3 pro, a diode harness and a Cali raised Toyota style switch.

My question is...if I use the Cali switch (which has a 4 wire pigtail) can I not wire in the "red 2" wire? I don't want the switch to light up at all.

The diode harness just has three wires.

I've wired quite a few things and can usually make things work but to be honest I don't really understand it all that well...

    Here's the switch.

    Thanks guys.

Well I think I found my answer. Looks like they'll illuminate when they're turned on. Which I guess is ok.

If I want to tap the "red 2" wire into the factory dash light circuit does anyone know if they will dim with the rest of the dash lights?

Shouldn't harm the switch's backlight as I doubt the dash backlight circuit would be anything other than 12V...but it would be a good idea to measure the voltage with a DMM just to be sure what voltage is present.

As far as the rest of your wiring, it's simple, don't use the DD switch pigtail ('A'), use the 'B' pigtail to wire up to the Cali switch's Red 1 wire.

    Hey good luck to you
    I can help from experience
Illumination wire is indeed 12v and yes the switch backlight will dim with OE dial control.

    My notes
    1. 2020+ T4R tie into drivers side dash OEM wiper defrost switch illumination wire = white, and variable ground = green
2 . Tie into the 10A Tail lights fuse (tail) under driver side dash with a piggy back fuse holder. They'll only come on with lights

Thanks guys. I may have changed my mind a little already. I think I'll just go with the diode dynamics kit so it'll come with the ss3 with backlight option. I found a dual function switch that has ditch lights and driving lights labeled on it.

I found it on a YouTube video....it's from aliexpeess so its probably garbage... anyhow he mentioned not connecting the ground from the switch to anything to make the switch not light up at all. Does that sound ok?

Here's a screen shot, not sure if you can tell anything from the photo. He's saying he has constant power, drl(backlight) function and the actual ditch light function wired to the switch. Other two wires on the switch are not used. Ones is the ground and one is for tapping into dash lights(I think).
