Digital Clock (round 2): Loose Solder Joints

    Last year I attempted to fix the clock. I tried stretching the springs out and cleaning the contacts, it did nothing. I got the radio replaced shortly after and the clock started working again... for 12 hours before it went away again.

    I've had times when I got a jolt driving on the highway and it knocked the life back into the clock again only to go out 30 minutes later.

    I saw another thread on a 4runner forum where someone said that the issue was with the solder joints cracking and losing continuity. It would explain why my clock can sometimes start working when I drive (a rare occurrence). But theirs was from a later sub-generation and some people said that Toyota made small changes to the digital clock between certain years.

    Has anyone tried re-soldering their digital clock?

    Are there any meaningful differences in the clock modules between the model years?
