Hey man I have a 1992 and coming down from higher speeds I have always heard a humming noise I'm not sure that's anything to be worried about. Unless the sound is extremely abnormal maybe record it and post it? Don't text and drive though!

Ok. I was told it was a bearing in the rear end wasn't sure if anyone knew the info about the bearing.
    Thanks Ryantzor.

I am trying to dial this noise in... might be tranny?

Bought 1994 4Runner 4wd, automatic with V6, for my daughter, truck is under 100k pretty damn clean and prior owner had alot of work done by paying out money to local shops. Looked at blogs and had some mechanics drive and listen to noise so I started the process by cleaning the transmission filter with new fluid - NOPE, then new "U" joints NOPE, then Pinion Bearings and Carrier bearing with new diff oil, NOPE, No leaks around or play in the Front or Rear Wheel bearings. Recently replaced the 9yr old tires too and did another flush of the tranny NOPE.

I went through the entire cooling system - radiator, belts, hoses, fan, fan clutch, t-stat - prior owner replace the water pump and timing chain, CV Joints with new shocks...doubtful this was the noise, but rules out the fan clutch making noise.

I don't mind replacing all these items as I want to make it safe for my kid, but running out of options on this vibration/noise at deceleration - very noticeable on the freeway at speeds above 55mph.

Any suggestions would be helpful, may take it by a few tranny places and get their input.

*** update Had "u" joints replaced and drive line balanced ... that finally took care of my issue. A little bit of vibration coming from transfer case at speeds above 70+
