Debadging Barcelona Red

I am wanting to remove my chrome SR5 badges from the sides. I like the rest of the badges, the “SR5” just doesn’t speak to me.

I have looked into some who have done this and methods as to how to do it. It looks relatively simple to me. Wondering if anyone else with this color went and removed some badging and if they have any tips or Warnings. I heard of some guys with the TRDOR having some ghosting issues. Thanks for any feedback!

 

I'm curious as well. I want to just remove the SR5. Think I'm gonna go with the fishing line method.

 

I have used a hair dryer to help with the fishing line to get badges off in the past. The heat helps a lot to loosen the adhesive.

Edit: this wasn't on a 4runner, so I'm just making the assumption that Toyota doesn't have some weird way of attaching them.

 

I have debadged a bunch of vehicles. I use a heat gun or blow drier and fishing line followed by adhesive remover. Then wash and wax.

 

Sure their on differently (not as aggressive) but have also removed a bunch of dealer emblems. Same thing have a hair dryer ready, fishing line or dental floss and cleaner for any gunk left underneath.

 

Hair dryer and dental floss, works great.

 

I pulled them off the other day. I’ll post pics when holiday festivities die down and there’s some good light.

 

Removing the SR5 badges was very easy. I heated them up with a hair dryer then used a plastic trim removing kit tool to pry them off once the adhesive got warm and pliable. I pulled them off, pulled off the little remaining adhesive, then did a quick clean with some 90% Isopropyl. I then hit it with some goo gone. After that I hit it with some wax and buffed it really well by hand. I think it looks great. There is a small paint chip that I’m not sure was existing or caused by my tool on one side. I will get it filled in soon. Overall, an easy thing to do and I like the sides being clean. Much easier than plasti dip IMO.

To debadge use dental floss. Make a loop and run inder the badge. Cleanest way to remove.

All great tips and post guys.....I have debadged all my rides except for my Grey wrapped BMW M3. Runner SR5 was debadged a while ago.....It looks much cleaner with just the Runner blacked out in the back. However I do like the TOYOTA on the TRD Pro grills though....

 

Yea, I think I'll be debadgeing very soon! I just got a 2020 and I figure now's the time, before there is any ghosting. And you can always put the stuff back if you don't like it so why not?
