Data Communication Module Reprogramming Service Campaign 22TC01

Couldn't find a thread on this. Anyone had this done...and did you have problems afterwards? A bulletin came out Feb 24, 2022 saying 32000 2021/2022 4Runners were affected. Vehicles produced late May to early August 2021. Dealer says mine is affected. Bulletin says improper programming of the DCM may result in driver and Safety Connect operator not hearing each other on a Safety Connect call. Other Toyota models affected as well. The fix is to update the DCM software. Dealer says to allow 1.5 hours for tech to do it. Appreciate any info on this.

 

I called them to remove me from “safety connect”, so they better have trouble hearing me lol.

The campaign is probably to harden the connectivity of the DCM in order to prevent any possibility for the end user to defeat it. Toyota, affiliates, or partners (determined at the discretion of Toyota) wish to retain their ability to take control of your vehicle. Ok fine, just kidding….
