Last week Safelite replaced my windshield but did not glue the dash camera back. They stated they did not do that and had no adhesive for that. I’ve tried gorilla glue clear grip, some 3 m adhesive strips and scotch mount strips. None seemed to work, this Texas heat just melts the product. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Curious to this as well.
Is there a Toyota part number for the adhesive for the Toyota dash cam?

My brother in law works for a dealership and he said Safelite should have the correct adhesive for it. Said for me to take it back on Monday and talk to manager. If they took it off they should put it back on..
If they do fix it I’ll ask for the product name.

I have used Permatex Ultra Black RTV with great success. I used masking tape to hold just the bare mount in place and let it set for a couple days. It was easily scraped off the glass when I removed the first one.

I would try killer red tape or 3M vhb tape.

I’ve used 3M VHB tape in my steam shower and it has held the led lights in place for over 2 years. Not sure why this wouldn’t work on your dash cam. Regular 3M double sided tape won’t be strong enough. The VHB stuff has a super strong adhesive.

Yes 3m VHB double sided tape is the one.
RTV is NOT an adhesive. It's an anaerobic sealant...

It is a black RTV gasket maker. It sticks to everything, non-hardening, cheap, and being black it is low key. It takes some time to set so it’s not fast like tape. It held up a dash cam in one of my trucks for 5 years until trade in.

Out of curiosity, what is the benefit of getting OEM over say Garmin Mini 2? Battery feed for park mode? Just curious, as I can’t recall a the pro/cons. Thx.

I took it to Safelite a while ago. I had to argue for them to put it back on the windshield but they did. They used 3M double-sided tape. It seems a little thinner then the one you buy at the store or at least the one I bought. Let’s see if it holds.

I really assume we are talking about dashcam not camera for Toyota Safety Sense. When I got the windshield installed Safelite didn't install anything on the windshield like dashcam, toll transponder. At that time I had light weight dashcam "spytech" which is same as Viofo. Used a regular double sided 3M tape. Now my 4runner has Blackvue dashcam and the 3M tape came with the camera didn't last long with the sun. I had heavy duty double side 3M tape in my tool box and it worked well with the heavy dash cam like Blackvue. I'm not sure how heavy the Toyota "branded" dashcam is. May be try a heavy duty 3M tape from Walmart or any hardware store.
