Damn people! Someone backed into my 4r today. It must of been a yellow truck because there's yellow paint and the front bumper cover is cracked.

Anyway how does insurance deal with hit n runs? I have a low deductible I just don't want my insurance increasing because of some idiot.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Most insurance companies (not all!) will not ding you for filing a hit-n-run claim. That's what un-insured/under-insured motorist coverage is for. It sucks that people don't own up to their mistakes and take responsibility for their actions.

Hey, now you have an excuse to get that steel front bumper you've always wanted!

As long as the adjuster determines your vehicle was not moving, and the yellow vehicle was, you are golden. If they determine the yellow paint is from a barrier or pylon, then you may be on your own.

I'm pretty sure the truck that hit me was a penn dot truck(yellow work trucks). Since there was like 10 of them parked near me at the gas station. I didn't even notice it until I got to work.

I decided just to buff off the paint and call it good enough.

good thinking. it is only a bumper. do not use insurance, as it will stick to vehicle history and hurt resale value later on.

Yeah, maybe three years ago, someone hit and cracked the front valance on my 2019 in a parking lot or something, including a small amount of bumper damage. While I was annoyed, you have to look there to see it, and I just decided to not add another battle to my life. It's cosmetic, no big deal to me. I'm keeping the 4R for another several hundred thousand miles anyway.

Sorry to hear about your bumper. If you file a claim (Which will be a collision as defined by insurance) your policy premium will go up for one to three years. You're in PA. Expect no mercy.

    Here's how you move forward:

    https://cbioffroadfab.com/product/5...-series-front-bumper-2014-2020-2/?ref=trail4r

Dont like this one? Well my friend you are in luck! You have dozens more options and brands to choose from.

    Oh and one more thing:

THIS. This is another reason to go metal bumper install. So lets do the math:

    - Deductible
    - Premium increase between 12-36 months
    - Thousands of de-value and a ding on your VIN
+ Sexy @r$e metal bumper out of pocket

= Sexy @r$e metal bumper & more $$$ in ur pocket.

    You are welcome!

If it happens again then I do plan on upgrading to a metal full bumper.

Having plastic "bumpers" makes no sense.

Happened to me not too long ago in my pickup. 7k+ in damage. Didn't affect my insurance at all. But my insurance required I file a police report. In Oregon that has to be done within 3 business days of the incident.

Don’t know that that’s true. Buddy got backed into in a private parking lot on Labor Day and police showed up. This was in the outskirts of Houston so may possibly be different, but was odd to me that they’d show up for a parking lot back up.
