Terrifies me how fast these can accelerate....and how slow they will be to stop. Can't imagine they invested a lot into BBKs.

“Cyberbeast”. Nice name. Sounds sort of like a MegaMan villain.

I think these will be flowing out of the factory in a trickle for the next year or so, but I think people will snap up every unit they manage to build. I think this is the worst thing on four wheels, there are plenty of tech bros with money that can't wait to get their hands on one.

I was reading about the assembly process on this, it's incredibly complex due to the flat panels and stainless steel construction, there's a quote from Elon saying they shot themselves in the foot with this one. 'They" meaning HE.

The Tundra looks like a beauty queen compared to that Tesla abomination.

It has a bed? But then again so does the hyundai santa cruz. Not gonna lie, I passed two of those on the Thanksgiving road trip and told my wife "maybe the aussies don't have utes wrong". Looked appealing for a brief moment

The only thing worse than a Tesla sedan driver is a Tesla truck driver.
I can already see their smug faces lighting up everytime they accelerate now with the added advantage of size.
The only saving grace is, that this thing is so ugly , it might deter at least a few and make them opt for the sedan.
I think this truck will have limited popularity. It might have a few takers initially but the hype would fizz away.

Funny, teslas are the new prius when it comes to shitty drivers around here. For a fully self driving vehicle, they seem to be the worst drivers on the road if that says anything. I was behind one the other day that had a bumper sticker that said "please be patient, full self driving test vehicle"... it came to a complete stop on an overpass before getting onto the entrance ramp. I can only assume it was confused by the crappy road lines and confusing intersection - I layed down on the horn and tried to keep my road rage from crashing them off the road. Of course it hit the entrance ramp straightaway at about 35mph, then hit light speed to merge with 70 mph traffic. I usually hit it at 50-55 and I didn't have a chance in the 4runner. Fucking asshole

On the subject of cyber trucks being ugly, I've seen news articles where you can get a wrap to make it look like an f150 raptor or tundra. They said Elon was "trolling" but wouldn't be surprised to see wraps take off to cover the hideousness, like a paper bag over the head. :anonymous:

Meh, I have no desire to visit their site to even build one for fun.

I did build an Ineos Grenadier wagon a few days ago for shits and giggles. Stupid expensive for a "stripped down" off roader. It didn't even give me a final price but because they start at nearly 80k? I probably ended up around 100k

It definitely appeals to me but if I'm going to buy something "stripped down" for that price I'd probably build something old school through icon4x4. The 4 door FJ44 is pretty sweet. Probably 150k though... ahhhh to dream

Tesla is a tech/ marketing company that’s trying to get into auto manufacturing. I agree that auto makers could definitely learn tech and marketing from Tesla.

In retrospect, Tesla could learn a thing or two from auto manufacturers. One big lesson would be build quality and body line gaps on a $100k + car.

Do we even need diesel any longer? Hell of a spread between the HP and torque curves. 845 HP and over 10,000 ft lbs of torque? That's some good marketing, but I guess a prius driver would believe it without question.

Woah most of us here in this forum love the new Prius!

Either way, the Tesla abomination will be probably get like 50 miles per charge when towing... look at how the Lightning range got slashed by more than half when towing. At this point in technology, no way in hell can an EV replace diesel.

@engineer90 Oh sorry, haven't been paying attention to the new ones. But I still have to question 10,000 ft. lbs of torque. Even the AWD is listed over 7,000 ft lbs. Hell of a misprint x2, if it is.

And in case it's not a typo (should it be 1000?), what use is 10,000 lb-ft of torque anyway?

Yes, we do. Unless you never need to tow more than 200 miles. Or, maybe less.

    It's marketing terminology BS

The Cybertruck HAS 10000 LB/FT of "wheel torque", which sounds like it takes gearing into consideration.

Taking gearing into consideration, the 4Runner has up to 3650 lb/ft of wheel torque. Obviously nowhere near as impressive, but it shows how deceptive marketing terminology can be.

A few years ago a Tesla dealer opened 1/4 mile from my house. Old Toyota lot ironically. Saw a CT at the mini mart across the street. Looks more like a movie prop. This will be interesting going forward.
Sidebar: the Tesla dealer has been sporadic with their stock for years, sometimes less than 10 cars. The past 2 weeks they have been bringing the sedans in everyday. Lot is almost full now. Maybe sales in Florida are better than average....
