Used vehicles are insane. I traded in my Tacoma with 90k miles for more than I bought it for. And it was 2wd

WOW!!! Must be. That KBB price I posted at 48k is 5k+ more than I paid for it new, with no miles.

In Arizona visiting family. Cousin is in market for a Pro. Tried to warn him about current Pro market.

Visited Right Toyota in Scottsdale. Had 12 new 4Runners on the lot last Wednesday, one being a neon green Pro. By Saturday, had one Sport and one modified ORP. Pro sold for MSRP + $25k that morning. In conversation with one of the new Sales Managers, was told they had one of the last Land Cruisers in the Valley this summer. MSRP was close to $90k. They added $10k in lift/tires/wheels/roof rack. Sold it for $180K.

Cousin's son is in market for new full size Bronco. Received call from SanTan Ford salesman that they had a new 4 Door being unloaded from a transport. It was his @ MSRP + $30k if he could be there in 1 hour or less or would put a 5 figure non-refundable deposit on it over the telephone.

At least here, your optimistic valuation seems down right affordable.

I bought my 2022 Lunar Rock TRD ORP for MSRP minus $750 Toyota discount. Have to find a dealer who doesn’t charge MSRP.

I have a 2015 Tacoma Double cab Off Road with 73k. I could sell it to a dealer right now for what I paid for it 5 years ago. Insane.

It's ludicrous. Vroom offered me more than I paid new and I've got 60,000 miles on this thing! My '13 Camaro SS is also worth about what I paid for it new, maybe more if I were to sell it privately.

Have mercy....the trade in value on my 4Runner (at KBB) is almost 5 grand more than I paid for it!

    Pricing is crazy right now...
Just sold my 21 Pro for 10k more than I bought it for a year ago. With 22k on the odometer... Its a sellers market and Toyota's are a premium all the way around.
Problem for most is you can sell it and make money but you certainly won't be able to replace.

This is from an article by a famous political analyst living in Northern California:

"I have been looking at new cars at the large regional car dealers. Whereas a year ago there were 200 or so new ones on lots to inspect, now there are not more than 10 or so—mostly subcompacts with prices upon inquiry well over the sticker MSRP figure. Almost overnight the lots have changed from premium new car marts into vast used car dealerships, but with a twist: today’s used cars sell at last year’s new car prices."

Things are crazy. I took delivery of my 21 pro 11 days ago. I was lucky to pay MSRP. 53 and change. Checked KBB just for grins. Showed trade in Values of 59-63K and private party sales 63-67. Never had a new car increase in value off the lot. It's absolute insanity.

Another example of crazy: My big local Toyota dealer has a few new 4Rs for sale, and about a dozen used ones. These include a new 2021 OR Premium for $46K and a 2019 OR (NON Premium!) with 27K miles for 45K. Both are black, so the color has nothing to do with it.

What would you rather do, pay 46K for a brand new ORP, or "save" 1K on a two-year-old version with less features and 27k miles on it. It's absolutely bonkers.

This dealer is also asking almost 42K for a 2019 SR5 (NON Premium) with 44K miles on it. But 45K for a brand new 2021 SR5 Premium.

    It's madness.

The one good deal I noticed was 39K for a 2017 Limited with only 32K miles. I'm almost tempted to buy it as a backup for my 2020 lol. It is, however, red.

Six months and 9,500 miles into mine and very pleased with it! The Lunar Rock color on the 4R looks great!

I feel like I did OK. Last month I paid 34.5k for my 2017 SR5 Premium with 76k on it. At the Toyota dealer.
