Clicking noise and wheel shaking

I went off roading today and was drifting around in the mud and everytime I do it my traction control turns on and starts making a clicking noise and locking up my wheels and every time I reached up and turned it off it would turn back on

Once I was done I got back on the road and my wheel started shaking back and forth a lot

can anyone help me with these two problems

 

There is likely mud stuck in your wheels and tires causing them to be off balance.

To disable traction control and stability control come to a stop first, then hold the traction control button for you few seconds. You'll get a prompt on the dash that these systems are disabled. Now you're free to have some fun.

I would stop and turn it off then it would turn itself back on is that normal ?

 

Yes its normal. When you press the button it just disables traction control for a few seconds. It does not disable stability control. Because your stability control was still on your rig was applying braking force to individual wheels to keep you from sliding. This is what you were hearing and feeling.

To disable both safety features, come to a stop and hold the traction control button for a few seconds. Youll get a prompt on the dash letting you know when theyre disabled.

 

Do you have the owner's manual? If so, it's probably time to read it. As for the shaking, it's mud caked on the inside of your wheels. Wash them well.

 

I think if you turn off traction control it turns itself on when you reach certain speed. Should be in manual.

 

I washed it out really good with a power washer and I am pretty sure I got all the mud off the wheel and suspension but it is still shaking. Is there a chance I lost a couple weights and if so would that make it shake ?

 

TC on dash still come on?

Could of damaged a sensor and it keeps kicking on when it doesn't need to.

 

I need to read that manual again...
I thought it just kicked off after a few seconds. But this makes more sense since a lot of other systems turn off around 7mph. I'd imagine traction control is similar. Thanks!

At least Toyota gave us the option to disable them completely. 4WD donuts in the snow are a hoot!
