Chrome door handles

Mine were worst looking item on the 4runner at 10 years old. Pitiful. I bought flat black covers for keyless entry. I thought about trying to paint a set white and clear coat

 

Oh your's is new. What is happening to quality? I don't feel so bad now

 

Are we talking about the interior handles or the exterior handles? My interior ones show cracking, and it’s a 2020.

 

Exterior, but it came from Texas, Arizona area. I don't feel so bad now.

 

Instead of alerting them to cracking handles, will they take complaints on cracking windshields?

 

I think during later years the manufacturers used some type of electro-chrome plating process that's fast, inexpensive, and applied super thin. Not like the old time hand-dipped process.

 

How do you like them? My handles are hideous.

 

I think clear layer of plastic, over layer of chrome, made of corn based plastic, mine handles crackled after 8 years

 

It stinks. I don't feel like taking the door apart and spending that much money to put on handles that will do the same in a few years.
