You said Chinese auto. That by itself is enough reason of not even remotely be interested in blatantly stolen designs and tech instead of doing their own R&D!

I couldn't imagine trying to get warranty work from a Chinese car company.

Before that, I would have to first imagine buying from a Chinese car company... Which I cannot.

Truth, I was imaging it as the car was given to me for free, because I also wouldn't buy one. Then, my free shitty Chinese car would need warranty work, which they would deny, because shitty Chinese company haha

Look at this Chinese BJ G wagon
    china-s-mercedes-g-class-clone-even-has-g63-6x6-and-amry-versions-139276_1.jpg
Just in case you didn't know, BJ also manufactures (assembles) some models of Mercedes in Beijing.
So far all the foreign manufacturers have plants in China except Lexus. They're still being made in Japan.
Chinese also get their own version of GR corolla made in China, called corolla GR sport.

See the Buick Envision. Chinese made 100%, but sold at US prices, cause capitalism. Ask your local dealer, see how they avoid the question.

Amazing. See how far we have fallen... I have been done with any GM product since the mid 80s. I had a 77 Olds Cutlass that was the bomb. Never had problems with that car. Plus, it had a Oldsmobile Rocket V-8 (350) with 4 bolt mains. After that, I had an 81 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a Buick 3.8 V-6. Another great car. But the junk they started building after that... And I had an inside track - my grandfather was an engineer for GM pretty much his whole career. Sorry, Grandad, I just couldn't make myself endure torture like that anymore. I have only had two Fords, both junk. Never again. These things cost too much money to put up with unreliability. Further, I just cannot fathom people buying BMWs that spend more time in the shop than in your driveway - and mostly cost way more than American cars.

True. Because we have no choice. I don't know that there is anywhere else that produces them.

iPhones are made in China by a Taiwanese company. Apple doesn't trust the Chinese

iPhones are designed in California, the components (display, camera, gyro, gps, battery, compass, processing chips, etc) come from semiconductor companies all around the world. The phones are assembled by Foxconn and Pegatron, Taiwanese companies, mostly in Shenzen China, where precision labor is very cheap.

If they were assembled in the US they’d probably cost 3X as much.

Japan's manufacturing prides itself on quality and precision while Chinese companies look for ways to make product look expensive while making it as cheaply as possible to make profit. Once enough people buy cheaper Chinese stuff and competition is eliminated they increase prices for same cheaply made products. In business that is called Predatory Pricing. You as a consumer left with no choice but to buy what is available.

I do my best to avoid made-in China products. My reasoning is that a large portion of the money I spend on them goes to a government that abuses its hard-working people, and is hostile to most of the world. Precious few of those dollars actually go to the workers.

Japanese Casio watches and Makita tools that are made in China are excellent. No reason a company couldn't do that with trucks.

There’s a difference between Chinese products, which are totally produced in and by China and export here, and products designed and developed in the US or other countries and contracted for just assembly in China from supplied parts.

Then there are products that are designed and specified by a US or other company but all other phases of production are handled by a Chinese manufacturer.

In any case, good luck finding many products not labeled “made in China”. I did a random search in my local hardware store once. All I found that was made in the USA was a sponge.
