What's the cheapest transfer case and differential fluid I can get for a 2020 SR5 that won't void the warranty?

This is a general question not directed at the OP, why do some people insist on saving a buck when it comes to purchasing lubricants that are essential for protecting very expensive components such as engines, transmissions and gear boxes?

Supertech at Walmart, in the appropriate grade. I believe it's 80/90, but don't quote me.

SuperTech synthetic 75w90 at Wally World is around $8/ qt. I run it in both my 4Runners.

How many miles are you getting out of the super tech synthetic in the differentials and transfer case? I imagine that should hold up fine for 50,000 mi with occasional 3,500lbs towing and off-road 4x4 use.

I think @whippersnapper02's comment addresses your question.

Often times people think more expensive = more protection. Not necessarily true.

Problem is nobody knows what the hell the equivalent is for Toyota's proprietary TOYOTA Genuine Transfer Case Gear Oil LF 75W 1 Litre 08885-81080. I'm not taking it to the Toyota service department and paying them $600 to replace the fluid in my diffs and trans case just because they want to use proprietary oil. And I'm not paying $90 a quart for anything much less genuine Toyota transfer case oil.

My solution is I tore that page out of the manual and replaced it with a handwritten version that says any 75/85or90 gear oil without limited slip additive will work fine for the diffs and trans case.

Looks like that should work I'll try to figure out if they have one that's compatible with Toyota DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL LT GL-5 75W85 , 08885-02506 as well

That doesn’t sound right. I pay around $7 a quart for genuine Toyota 0-20 at dealership.

    case is 6 qts

I change it every 40-50k and it’s clean. Haven’t had a issue with it.
In my 5th gen I do run Royal Purple synchromax in the transfer case. But in my 4th gen it gets super tech in Front diff, rear diff, and transfer case. No complaints and easy to find.

I use Ravenol 75W comes from across the pond. It is the Toyota equivalent, I get it from the Amazon. Has an awesome tube inside to fill, without the mess and any pumping or funnel. I think it’s approx 25 bucks for the 1 litre. It’s a little more than what’s needed and comes trickling out of the fill.

The oil for the transfer case really is that expensive! To change it every 30-50k starts adding up lol. Like even getting pretty close to transfer case replacement cost after a while.

The 0w20 you mention is motor oil.

Yes, sorry, I think we were comparing apples to oranges. I was referring to the engine oil. The OP was referring to transfer case oil? I must have gone off on a tangent.

I have heard that the transfer case oil is terribly expensive. But I believe 75w85 GL5 is acceptable substitute. That’s what I am going with when it’s time.

Got a 5 gallon jug of Lucas 75w-90 full synth GL-5 for $150 shipped to my door last week. Did the wife's car over the weekend, along with the transfer case at $35 for the 3 quarts of GL-4, 7 quarts of 0w-20 with filter change and 3 1/4 quarts of ATF WS. Good news is, I got plenty left over for my Tundra and the next time I do hers again!

If you put it that way, you don't deserve your 4Runner. J.K. though and there is nothing wrong with saving money. How about getting Best stuff for less money instead of getting Cheap stuff cheap. Search deals online.
