Hey guys in need of some of your guys brainpower. So, my 4lo was engaging like many of these 4th gen 4runners, I read the forums and tried loosening the actuator bolts and wiggling it in and out. Nothing. Eventually I decided to pull two of the bolts and try more wiggling, still nothing. I decided to drive in a couple laps along my parking lot while it was loose to see if that helped, in my idiocy I decided to turn the center diff lock on to make sure that still worked(worked perfectly before), heard a turn, it engaged, then when I turned it off the light went off but it was stuck locked. I parked it and looked at the actuator, it had spaced out a bit between the case. I tightened my bolt back on and sealed it up hoping that would put it back but that didn’t work and it’s stuck now. Tried loosening the bolts to pull it back but it feels jammed. What do I do??

    Not a sarcastic question but..

Did you try taking a rubber mallet to the actuator while the bolts were loose?

Yes… I think I’ve got some idea of what I messed up. I’ve tricked the computer to think that the 4wd is off based on the position of the actuator not the rods that change the actual gear postition.
    I’ve been going off this:

My plan is to take actuator off, push my rode in to actually unlock the diff, and then set everything back in place. I’ll keep the thread updated as a warning and fix options for the other idiots like me
