    Hello,

I wanted some guidance on how to diagnose my car cold starting problem.

    this car has a
    new battery fully charge,
    no alternator problems,
No codes when scan in OBED

When cold starting car does not crank but dash lights and other electrical components are active. Needs to jump start for the car engine to turn on.
usually in colder weather problem occurs more often

once on the car cranks fine when it hasn’t been sitting for more then 12 hours.

Ground terminal cracked a little bit but I don’t know if this is the cause of this issue.

    2001 4runner SR5 189000 miles one owner.

let me know if any of you have any knowledge on this appericate anyone’s input!

Replace the ground battery cable. I bet it's got corrosion 8" or more up inside the insulation. Symptoms were the same as when I had to replace 8" of my ground battery cable and when the insulation was peeled back is was all green.

Thanks for the input! Does the wiring size matter such as 2GA or 1/0 GA or can I just order 2GA?

I used a cable from AutoZone and spliced it in. It's much cheaper and easier. Like $20. I didn't want to rip apart the harness to do a full replacement.

I used a torch and a butt connector and a whole bunch of flux and solder and some marine heat shrink. It's been good for several years now. I would not just crimp a splice like this. It needs a good soldered connection.

2 gauge is fine. It’s OEM spec
