I have been using and studying car covers over the years. Ive tried everything from that microfiber material to the auto part store covers. My favorite is MOTOR TREND. Its like this light almost silk material that dries quick. And Im getting around two years out of them.

I had a Coverking Autobody Armor (their $400 flagship) on my GTO and only got about 1.5 years of life until the outer layer dry rotted. I got a replacement under warranty and it happened again. In March I purchased a $700 Covercraft Sunbrella and it seems to be doing a better job with only one layer. There’s even less dust which someone suspected was the cover breaking down. I live under the harsh SoCal sun so only time will tell.

    Pic of the dry rotting:

The MOTOR TREND are a reflective silver. And let air circulate underneath with a light breeze. BUT, they have tendacy to blow off.

I initially washed mine in the tub with a mild detergent one and then resorted to using deionized water to spray it off on the car and thought maybe that did it but then it happened on the replacement.

We get 110+ here in the summer.
