You can bet his engine is not affected by the debris and main bearing issue.

To his credit, he did say he did look at a Ram but even he cringed about it. Can't blame him, at least Toyota is addressing the Tundra issues right away.

This is more of a case of "better the devil you know than the devil you don't know".

By the way, that OEM tonneau may slip rearward over time together with the rails, as the rails rely on the four little aluminum blocks to pinch it against the bedside. There isn't much clamping pressure. My Tacoma's Extang slid back half an inch after every wheeling trip. I had to fabricate a little L-bracket to act as a backstop for the rails to prevent it from happening.

That is a beautiful looking truck. Good thing he knows how to fix his own cars.

In case you haven't seen this yet. He talked about engines made after January 2024.

Guessing he was offered quite a deal on it. Lot’s of people see him and Toyota needs some good press.

He did some guessing based on a short block P/N roll starting in Jan 2024. Meanwhile the #1 main bearing has a P/N roll starting in Apr 2024. Meanwhile the recall 24V381 covers only up to Feb 2023: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RMISC-24V381-8150.pdf :notsure:

yeah, the recall doesn't include 2024's...YET!

gotta give dealers a chance to unload them first...
I just looked at my local dealer website,
they have 70 Tundras on the ground...

they have four 4Runners on the ground...
