In the past I have used every vehicle I own as a off-road vehicle. This includes a ‘72 Pontiac Grandville, a multitude of Dodge 2WD pickups and a couple Honda Civic among others. Anything is, if your daring enough:cool:

Seriously though, a mid-90’s Ford escort wagon was unstoppable.

    To be determined
Years ago I sold a truck and bought a 1990 Volvo sedan for 1500.00 as a temporary car to run into the ground while I shopped around for what ended up being my first Tacoma.
Buddy of mine owns property in the woods and we would visit him on the weekends for festivities..
I’ll tell you what- with enough momentum and giving zero fawks that car would make its way through some rough trails. Never mind that it would rattle the ceramic fuses loose, drop a gear, or vibrate the brake light connectors to smitherines haha was a great car for a farm but had to replace it quickly as I deemed it unsafe for road travel

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
Well, I bought my 87 4Runner back in 95 or so for $5,000.00, but no locker, I'm afraid. Still have it, but it's sitting at my mechanic's place, waiting for him to replace the dash panel wiring harness. Or just the fuse block on it. It caught fire last December. The fuse block, that is. Turned magically into a puddle of melted plastic, and 14GA wires.
We got 2 wiring harnesses, but my mechanic and his men HATE working on wiring troubles. They fix it up, eventually, and I'll put it up for sale for $5,000.00 :D
Considering prices these days, I think I'll get it, too. Some body rust, but mostly surface stuff. Nothing deep. The frame is rust free. It spent 1/2 it's life in Yuma, Az., so no surprize, really.

I bought my 99 4Runner in march of this year, 2021. Again, $5,000.00. It has a locker in it.
Why? Because my trusty 87's fuse block...well, see above.
It was at a dealer in Denver when I bought it, and it cost us $1,100.00 to have it shipped to us here in Oregon. Yes, we checked, that was less than it would have cost use to fly up and drive back, so well worth it. A few hours after our deposit check cleared, we saw, and so did the dealer, an identical vehicle across town in Denver for $12,000.00. Our guy was mad enough to chew barbed wire and spit nails out, but nothing he could do. Everyone who sees it says we stole it. I agree, but since we are on the receiving end, I aint complaining!

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
Buy an XJ Jeep Cherokee for $1000 to $3000, invest $5k to $10k into it and have a vehicle that will go anywhere off road.

Friend of mine wheels the hell out of his XJ.

I'll probably add a JK Wrangler to my collection eventually. Even the base model 4door with some bigger tires will go just about anywhere.
