Camping and audio/video question

I was looking to do a movie night on a camping trip. If I have a projector and screen, is there anyway to hook it up to the car audio system for sound? The normal sound from the projector and most output is not very good on a camping trip.

If not, is there any alternative?

 

Hey so 2016 had an AUX 3.5mm audio input on the dash, but newer such as 2021 do not. I do audio visual for a living. Most projectors have AUX audio out, that prolly would have been the easiest solution. Without AUX I think you may need a projector with Bluetooth capabilities, or an AUX/RCA audio to Bluetooth adapter. Because otherwise it's hard to get audio to play Bluetooth on your truck if your phone or laptop is wired into the projector for the video. It wants to play through one or the other; the internal projector speakers or your truck speakers

Sure usb to 3.5mm is worth trying. You're right 2021 there is the usb input still where AUX used to be as well. Sometimes usb just likes flash drives, but that's just fine. It's possible it works out of devices too

 

Not much help here, but in my 2004 4Runner, I have to use a cassette tape adapter to pipe in any external music to my stereo...

 

27” tv, Raspberry Pi, and a 1TB hard drive plugged in to the inverter works pretty well

 

What is the inverter? Can you walk me through the process

 

The power outlet in the cargo bay. 400w was enough to power that setup, although I’d run the engine for a little bit after the movie was over to avoid killing the battery.

That was the last time we used that setup, 3 years ago. I’ve since streamlined my gear (and continue to do so). I’ve since come up with other solutions that involve a mount for a tablet in the cargo area and also in the tent. My kids are more about running around like drunk idiots at the campsite than sitting and watching movies. Now movie time is when we turn in for the night

 

Might that work? I have a Sirius XM radio that I want to tether to the infotainment system and I need an AUX IN jack but none to be found on my 2023 4Runner. I'm wondering if I need to order a bluetooth TX / RX dongle to get it to tether with bluetooth.
