    I believe they are called "boost" tubes. They just hold extra clean air that can be used when heavy throttle is applied. This is what I was told years ago.

    One of my tubes turned down always captures water for some reason maybe pressure changes inside?....,,,,

    Those are Helmholtz resonators. They make the whole thing quieter.

    You aren't really getting any added performance out of any "cold air intake" on today's vehicles, unless you've changed other parts of the system such as the engine head, as well as complete exhaust system (including, most importantly, manifolds), and have then also re-calibrated the ECU. But they look neat and they sound good, so enjoy modding. :)

    I'd take that article with a grain of salt. I'm not saying it's "wrong" but it seems aimed at sales of CAI's...
