This would be interesting and open up possibilities for more bumper options for those with TSS. That said, I am surprised that relocating the TSS sensor behind the grill wouldn't interfere with its functionality.

Well, I purchased one. Lets see how it works out...

That being said, does anyone know where i can get a lower grill from a 2014-2019 4RUNNER? I need to find oner without the TSS plate in the middle.

    THANKS!

$95 for a small, bare steel bracket - what a joke.

Considering it’s just a bracket, they’ll probably have the R&D covered after their first sale.

Yet they are the first to do this so I don’t know why anyone is complaining

It says brackets allow for fine tuning Do they have instructions for fine tuning? Or do they mean when you take it to a willing dealer, they can fine tune it? Toyota charges a bunch to recalibrate the radar system, which works together with the camera to some degree. But I’m not sure how much work is actually involved.

Could be… all I see is 4 oval mounting slots. I figured that the fine tuning meant calibration, but maybe calibration might be internal sensor adjustments or software calibration.

By them offering this bracket for sale, an moving it behind the grill, it kind of seems C4 isnt too worried about moving the sensor. What’s weird is that if I get a little snow on the sensor, I get warning messages saying the system deactivated. Maybe it’s the water content of snow that does it, but not plastic???

I remember when the TSS sensors first came out on the 4runners, everybody was freaking out about having error codes and needing to re-calibrate the system if you lifted and leveled. But for the most part I don't think that ever was the cause of any error codes.

R&D was mentioned before. I seriously doubt C4 put this mod through any structured “test program” to verify the functionality of the system after moving the sensor (you can bet they would have described the testing if they did it ). At most, they relocated the sensor, drove it around for a bit, and called it good when they didnt see any warning lights. What we dont know is if the sensor is seeing the same things and how that might affect when and if the system decides to apply full braking. There is potential here for the TSS to be more unpredictable, so I would take your first few drives with caution.

I would personally accept the system not catching my mistake and not braking, but I would be pissed if it caused me to get hit from behind if the TSS system decides to brake for no good reason.

If you dont have any problems after driving around for a good while, it would be cool if you report back and let everyone know. Im sure this knowledge would be appreciated. My choice in bumper was made based on TSS, so it would be good to know if there are options.

I don’t know about that. I actually called and talked to one of the employees at C4. He informed me that the sensor would go right behind the “A” in the pro grill, and was test on both a Pro and SR5 model with zero functional issues. He also said you can check YouTube for installation and performance information.

oh, it’s actually behind the cross bar where toyota is? And it’s offset towards the drivers side? Geez, if it’s true that it doesnt affect the function, then I guess there is no need to really worry about calibration. It also ticks me off that toyota would mount it in such an ugly way to begin with lol. (The sensor on our 18 highlander is totally invisible behind the Toyota emblem).

Would still appreciate any feedback from you on real world results though, after driving it around in different situations. I’d still drive it with care for a bit, until you can trust it.

Now all I have to do is find a replacement lower grill from a 2014-2019 4Runner without the sensor. Anyone know where I can locate one of those?

I found the grille - prior to having to sell the T4R - so I have the grill and the TSS relocation bracket for sale if anyone is interested! Please PM me.

$95 for a bracket and some nuts, bolts, and washers apparently was a bargain...this is current pricing:

Plus, you will need to replace the lower grille as well to get the black plates out of the way. I have the whole kit!

Will this work with a CBI Adventure front bumper 2019 and before with high bar?

To be clear, I'm mounting a 2019 and prior 5th gen bumper on a 2022 5th gen. CBI said they'd mount the same to the frame but would cause me to relocate the radar and front camera. So now I'm figuring out how to do this. Thanks!

Depends on if you have the bull bar on your bumper.

I have the C4 Hybrid bumper with the full height bull bar that is designed for use with the TSS relocation bracket. Had it on for almost a year now and no TSS errors.

    I have the high bar.

Do you have a front camera? If so, how did you relocate that? Thanks.
