I have noticed a couple of times that if I am sitting at a stop on a hill and release the brake and start rolling backwards when I hit the throttle I get a buzzing sound, almost like an alarm, and the car will not move. I can put my foot on the brake and accelerate away without letting it roll backwards but not let it roll back and accelerate. I don't think that is normal but anybody know what might be going on?

Traction control system thinks you're slipping. Go easy on the pedal.

If you're on an incline, brake with your left foot. Give it gas while letting off the brake. Like others said it is trac control kicking in.

Thanks everyone, glad to know it is working normally. My Tundra and Highlanders don't do that.

Hillstart Assist Control. It’s automatic and yes it doesn’t completely hold the truck from rolling back.

Yep - it will do the same thing if while rolling backwards in reverse you put it into drive while still slightly rolling backward.
